China Leadership Watch

By Bernard Geoxavier, Email: bgeoxavier@gmail.com Following Chinese domestic politics and its impact on Chinese economics, international trade and international security.
Who controls which islands in the South China Sea. This image give a little perspective on actual control over the island chains in question, including the current standoff area.
The above picture, courtesy of 中国军网 shows China (red stars) on control of only 9 islands in the chain, the Philippines (yellow dots) occupy or effectively control 8, Vietnam (purple dots) a whopping 29 and Malaysia only 3.  It is interesting to overlap legal claims, propaganda in domestic and international media outlet and actual control. Not quite the same as what CCTV says.
